Practically any payment instrument can be used within the solution: magnetic stripe cards, EMV smart cards, cash, checks/cheques, gift cards, stored value cards, private label cards, staff discount cards, and loyalty cards.

With this solution, non-financial cards - such as staff discount cards, fuel cards, prepay cards, and loyalty cards - can be used at the POS and transactions are processed in a consistent way without increasing processing complexity. Additional services, such as prepaid electricity, can easily be added at a later stage.
Multiple electronic cash registers can be controlled and configured for EFT processing centrally from a single Postilion system, typically housed at the retailer's head office or data center. Software upgrades are performed centrally without the cash registers being inoperable for long periods - an important factor in the modern retail world where outlets are often open for business 24 x 7.
A component of the solution can reside on a cash register or a retail outlet's store server, essentially to "transaction-enable" the cash register. The cash register or store server is therefore able to get transaction authorization from the primary authorizer and has its own sophisticated local authorization capability. Local authorization is typically used when transactions are below the store floor-limits. |
