Postilion Internet Shopping

The solution offers an Internet shopping component, primarily designed for card-not-present transactions. The solution interfaces to the retailer's Internet store and customers can shop via their Web browsers.

The solution also has the ability to operate in a call center, allowing authorizations and other transactions to be performed by staff using a Web-based payment console. The console is a web page that allows retailers, as a back-office function, to add a request for authorization to the system as well as to schedule fulfillments and process returns, reversals, and check/cheque payments.

The solution enables Internet retailers to accept the following transaction types:

  • Funds reservation (authorization) - this is a request for funds to be reserved against an account, for goods and services. A successful response will reserve cardholder funds (setting the "open to buy" limit on the card), pending receipt of a corresponding funds fulfillment. If no fulfillment is received within a certain period, the funds will be released
  • Funds fulfillment (capture) - this is used to notify the issuer that the goods have been shipped or the services provided for a previous funds reservation
  • Purchase (authorization and capture) - this is a request against an account for goods and services that will be provided immediately. A successful response will result in the movement of funds
  • Refund - this is a request for a refund against an account
  • Reversal - this is a reversal of a previous funds reservation or funds purchase transaction. The partial reversal of a previous transaction is supported
